Walk to Wonderful Restaurants from our B&B in Sandwich MA

One of the nice things about staying at a B&B is that you enjoy a delicious breakfast as part of your stay. Even though our breakfasts are hearty, you still need to have other meals while you are relaxing on the Cape! There are some wonderful restaurants located within walking distance of Isaiah Jones Homestead Bed & Breakfast.

For a very special occasion – maybe an anniversary or special birthday celebration – we recommend The Bistro at the Belfry Inn.  The Bistro is located (literally) “just around the corner” and takes less than 5 minutes to walk there from your room!  This grand, brick building, constructed in 1901, has been converted from a Catholic Church to a breathtakingly beautiful restaurant! The stained glass remains to give some wonderfully colorful rays of light as the sun moves through the sky and splashes color over your linen-draped table and around the dining room. The wood construction makes the interior a warm and inviting space. Look up to see oak buttresses supporting the high ceiling. Choose your wine by taking a look in the confessional behind the bar.  You will be in awe of the restaurant even before you look at the creative menu!   Chef Suraj (Sonny) Chopra has created a culinary adventure in this fabulous space. Chef uses locally sourced items – especially the seafood – to create beautiful and tasty dishes. The menu includes wonderful appetizers such as Pan Seared Scallops and Upper Cape Littleneck Chowder. Local seafood items change daily based upon the catch at the dock in the morning. Entrees include Sous-Vide Sirloin Steak and a lighter Summer Pasta dish with ricotta, basil, tagliatelle with summer vegetables. You can truly indulge by trying the Chef’s Tasting Menu – a six-course culinary adventure decided by the Chef’s creative whim of the day.  The Bistro is closed Monday & Tuesday. Dinner is served Wednesday to Sunday from 4:30 to 9:00 pm.

Another of our guests’ favorite restaurants is Fishermen’s View Seafood Market & Restaurant. The name should give you a hint that the location is on the water with a wonderful view! Not only is this one of the favorites, Boston Magazine named Fishermen’s View the Best Restaurant on Cape Cod for 2018! If you want just a bit of exercise, leave your car at the B&B and walk the 28 minutes to and from this restaurant. Fishermen’s View Restaurant is open Monday – Saturday, 11:30am-10pm and Sunday 11:30am–9pm. The fish market is open every day 8am-7pm. The lunch menu is extensive! Enjoy the Raw Bar, go for a delicious “starter” (we suggest the Narragansett Calamari), try the Sushi, or go for a seafood sandwich (after all, you are in Sandwich, MA!!). The Dinner Menu includes many similar starters, Raw Bar items and sushi. THE menu items to explore are in the “From The Docks” section of the menu. Since the Fishermen’s View is located on the docks, you know that fish just can not get any fresher than this! The Local Striped Bass with crispy Parmesan polenta and served with heirloom tomato-lobster scampi shows the creativity of the Chefs! The Table Sides are meant to be shared with everyone at the table but you may have a difficult time passing the Truffle-Sea Salt Rosemary Frites to your dinner companion! All of the desserts are made in-house each day. Try Nana Colbert’s Cake and Ice Cream for the family secret recipe favorite.

Logo for British Beer Company in Sandwich MAIf you are thirsty for some British Beer and some great “pub grub”, The British Beer Company is a great Sandwich choice. The 27 minute walk or 4 minute drive to this British-style pub is an easy way to see a bit of the Cape on your way to great food and beverages.  The menu is extensive and includes British pub foods plus New England favorites. Take a group of friends or family and start with a “Shareable”. Try an order of BBC Sausage Rolls – pork and potato sausage wrapped in a puff pastry, baked to a golden brown. Dip them in the side of Fuller’s Pride Beer mustard.  Or order a Giant (soft) Pretzel topped with seas salt and served with gouda fondue cheese. Soups include New England Clam Chowder and Newcastle Beer Chili. The choice of sandwiches is amazing! It includes Burgers, Baps, or Wraps and ranges from fish tacos to a BBQ Meatloaf Bap to the John Lennon Veggie Burger. The “Mains” include comfort foods and popular favorites.  The Sweet Chili Salmon –  “back by popular demand” – is glazed with a sweet Thai chili sauce and is served with fresh seasonal vegetables and Jasmine rice. Go British in your dinner choice with Shepherd’s Pie or British “Beer” Fish and Chips.   Whatever your choice, you can wash it down with a great British Craft Beer such as Blackberry Ale or London Pride.

Now is the time for a summer getaway to the oldest town on Cape Cod! Make a reservation to stay at Isaiah Jones Homestead and enjoy some of our wonderful local restaurants.
