The 2019 edition of the holiday season has arrived! In Sandwich, MA, we celebrate the holidays with fun events and wonderful celebrations.
Come stay at our B&B and light up your night with Gardens Aglow at the Heritage Museum and Gardens. This bright celebration has been a tradition on the Cape for over a decade. Heritage Gardens are truly aglow with millions of lights set-up in beautiful displays. Inside the museum, there are lots of displays of holiday decorations of all kinds. The model train display will delight the child in all of us! Visit with Santa the 1913 Model T Ford. Demonstrations of ice carving will amaze you. Performers from around the area will be entertaining you with several styles of dance, instrumental music, and various choral groups will sing you into the holidays. Snacks and warm drinks will be sold at the Magnolia Café the gift shop will open during these special hours. Gardens Aglow begins November 29th and continues through December 29th only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Tickets are available online. The cost is $20 for adults, $17 for museum members, $10 for children ages 3-17 (youth members are $8), and free for children 2 and under.
Gardens Aglow is not the only holiday happening in Sandwich. Holly Days is a celebration that creates a winter wonderland in the town. This is another Cape Cod Tradition that includes festivities for all ages and runs from November 30th through January 1st, 2020. Shop Small by visiting all the local unique shops in our downtown and by purchasing one of our Gift Certificates. Be sure to stop by the Sandwich Arts Alliance for the Holly Days Fine Arts Boutique. But small businesses are the only small thing celebrated in Sandwich: on Sunday, December 1st we will experience the Lighting of the Littlest Christmas Tree at 5pm by Shawme Pond. Our community holiday tradition continues with the Community Carol Sing at 7pm. On Sunday, December 6th from noon to 4pm, tour the beautifully decorated homes in the oldest town on Cape Cod.
The new decade will be celebrated during First Night Sandwich, 2020! The theme this year is “first town, first light, first night.” The whole town is used to celebrate the end of 2019 and usher in the new year. Ice sculptures will adorn the streets, lighted giants will greet you along the Route 6A and in the village, storytellers will entertain you, and of course there will food vendors selling warm foods to keep you warm and keep you going until the grand finale fireworks celebration at midnight. Buttons are for sale for $10 in advance and $12 at the entrance of any of the entertainment venues.
If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve in a warmer environment, make a reservation for our New Year’s Eve Champagne Dinner celebration here at the B&B. We begin with appetizers followed by soup and salad. The entrée is Filet Mignon Steak au Poivre. Dessert finishes the meal. Champagne and wine is included with the celebratory dinner. And you don’t have to go out into the cold winter night for the whole two-night package!
