Do you love to read a good mystery? Visit Sandwich, MA participate in a “Book Launch Party” with Award-winning writer, Katherine Hall Page. The party takes place on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Sandwich Public Library. This party is not only about the launch of her new book, “The Body in the Wake” but it also is also a 25thAnniversary Celebration of Ms. Page’s Faith Fairchild Mystery series! Enjoy some festive cake as you hear from the writer herself!
There are lots of “Faith-ful” readers of these mystery books – the first of which won the Agatha Award for best first mystery by a new writer. “The Body in the Belfry” was the first time Faith Fairchild put her sleuthing talents to work on paper. That was back in 1991. Since then, there have been a total of 23 “whodunits” prior to the release of this new book. The fifteenth book in this series, “The Body in the Snowdrift” brought Ms. Page to the award platform again as the honoree for the 2006 Agatha Award for Best Mystery Novel. This writer was also nominated or received awards in 2001 (Best Short Story), 2003 (Juvenile mystery and Mary Higgins Clark Award), and 2013 (Maine Literary Award). In 2016 Ms. Page won the Lifetime Achievement Award from Malice Domestic. Read more comments and reviews of these mysteries.
The newest book in the Faith Fairchild series, “The Body in the Wake”, is set in Maine. Faith finds a body in a lily pond – the victim of an apparent drowning. But a strange tattoo on the victim and other clues, lead Faith through a convoluted journey to find the killer and even touches on the opioid crisis evolving across the country and in the small village where this story takes place.
Now, being an innkeeper, of course I love to cook! I was fascinated to learn that there is even a cookbook containing recipes from the Faith Fairchild Mystery books! “Have Faith in Your Kitchen” includes information on how Ms. Page composes these mysteries and the author discusses the importance of food in the plots. You may be able to purchase this cookbook/writing supplement when you come to the Launch Party!
