January on Cape Cod tends to be quiet and peaceful. It’s a wonderful time to get away and curl-up with a book. Sandwich has bookstores and a wonderful library to match you to books that will be engrossing for you. We have rooms available in January for a relaxing getaway, some great nooks for curling up with a book, and a cure for your “winter blahs”.
The Sandwich Library is known as “the Heart of Our Community”. When you visit Sandwich, MA, you too become a part of the community and can enjoy all the programs offered to the residents of the oldest town on Cape Cod. Check out the January calendar of events at the Library. Each Wednesday evening, you can join a knitters group to just ask questions and get some advice on a project. One time each month, on the third Wednesday at 2:00pm, the library offers an Adult Book Discussion. In January, the book discussion will center on “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah. Enjoy a light snack provided by the Friends of the Library.
The Library partners with Titcomb’s Bookshop to bring well-known writers to Sandwich, MA.
On Thursday, January 17, 2019, mystery writer Joanna Schaffhausen will be at the library to talk about her latest novel, “No Mercy”, which is a follow-up on an earlier book called “The Vanishing Season”.
On Wednesday, January 30that 6:30pm Writer Lisa Genova will lead a discussion about her newest book, “Every Note Played”. Ms. Genova’s books have captured the hearts and minds of millions of readers and friends, families, and victims of neuropsychological challenges. Her earlier publication, “Still Alice” was made into a movie where Julianne Moore played the title character who is diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Tickets for the book discussion are just $10.
Want to express your creative talents? If you always wanted to be a writer, the Library offers Intuitive Writing Classes sponsored by the Sandwich Arts Alliance. Or join the Sandwich Writers Group. Or even try a Design and Paint Class. Check the Calendar for more information on these and other opportunities to express yourself.
